Antique His Masters Voice suitcase gramophone made in Great Britain in 1935 and in really good condition. This is model 97-B, a very special design that includes an accessory for storing the records. The motor has been fully overhauled and fine-tuned in order to guarantee an optimal working order, so today the gramophone works perfectly and can play antique records with a neat and quality sound. The black-leather-covered suitcase and the rest of the component parts are original too and remain in great condition. The black leather that covers the suitcase is very well preserved and shows no torn or worn parts. Both the handle and the suitcase lock are original and remain in great condition. Inside, the turntable and the elements needed to operate the gramophone sit on a black-painted wooden plank that hides the motor. They are made of silvery metal and look shiny, even and with no traces of rust. The same can be said about the accessory for storing the records, a circular piece that stands on the turntable and can be removed when needed. The original logo, the brand name and the companys name are printed inside the cover as part of a greatly-preserved decal. With its undeniable charm, this HMV suitcase gramophone is a classic piece with a high decorative potential. Measurements: Width: 11.4 in / 29 cm. Height: 5.5 in / 14 cm. Depth: 14.9 in / 38 cm.History of His Masters Voice Inside the cover we find the famous brand logo with the inscription HIS MASTERS VOICE clearly printed in golden lettering. The brand was created in 1899 from a picture by Francis Barraud depicting the dog Nipper listening to his dead owners voice coming from a phonograph. The Gramophone Company bought the picture, but before they told Barraud to change the phonograph for a gramophone of their own. The rest is history: the image became worldly famous and the firm eventually changed its company name for the brand name. The Gramophone Company, based in the United Kingdom, was one of the early recording companies. The company was merged with the Columbia Graphophone Company in 1931 to form Electric and Musical Industries Limited (EMI), the company title as "The Gramophone Company Limited".
