Awesome antique His Masters Voice suitcase gramophone, model 101. The gramophone is in amazing condition and works perfectly. It was manufactured in Middlesex, USA in 1929, probably for the Swedish market. The motor has been carefully checked and overhauled so today the gramophone sounds great. All its component parts and pieces are original and remain wonderfully preserved, especially the silvery metal parts: they look as shiny and beautiful as they did in their glory days. The suitcase that contains the gramophone is covered by black leather, in good condition and with the original handle and locks. Inside there is a wooden structure that hides the motor. This structure supports the turntable and makes it possible to connect the different component parts. Attached to the wood we can see a circular bone-colored plate with the model (MODEL 101) and the gramophones serial number: 1010066828. There is also a sticker with the original Swedish distributors name: HERM. MALMSTROM MÄLMO. Last but not least, inside the cover there is a compartment to store the records with the printed original HMV logo in excellent condition. Every lover of antique gramophones will find a real treasure in this HMV model, a classic piece with a charming sound. Measurements: Width: 11.4 in / 29 cm. Height: 5.9 in / 15 cm. Depth: 16.1 in / 41 cm.History of His Masters Voice Inside the cover we find the famous brand logo with the inscription HIS MASTERS VOICE clearly printed in golden lettering. The brand was created in 1899 from a picture by Francis Barraud depicting the dog Nipper listening to his dead owners voice coming from a phonograph. The Gramophone Company bought the picture, but before they told Barraud to change the phonograph for a gramophone of their own. The rest is history: the image became worldly famous and the firm eventually changed its company name for the brand name. The Gramophone Company, based in the United Kingdom, was one of the early recording companies. The company was merged with the Columbia Graphophone Company in 1931 to form Electric and Musical Industries Limited (EMI), the company title as "The Gramophone Company Limited".
