Beautiful Spanish Gramophone Eco-phone nº 14 from 1915. Solid wood case on a wider base in definition, where stands out in the side panels a soft painted decoration based on waves and a harp on one side following the Modernist Style, fashionable in Spain even in those years. An antique and striking horn in intense green color that, although it is not originally from the device, makes this a nice collector's item. The decorative metal arm with plant motifs that run along its contour makes this model an exceptional piece. It has an original cylindrical box to guard the hands with a geometric decoration engraved on the lid in the shape of a rhombus. The hand crank is not from the device, but it has been chosen in perfect harmony with the rest of the parts that compose it. This piece has excellent aesthetic and functional characteristics. It is in perfect working order, with the motor is smooth and quiet. It has original logo, both in sheet metal on one of the sides, and painted on one of the upper corners of the box. Attached several records and needles. The gramophone will be a tough competitor of the phonograph when the German Emile Berliner invented it in 1887. It was a new reproducer device not based on the Edisonian cylinder, but on that round surface despised by the father of the phonograph, developing the recording laterally, through the groove instead of up and down. Between the disc and the cylinder there would be a fierce struggle, which ends up winning the disc thanks to an aggressive advertising campaign that would make this format get more and more followers. The irruption in the Spanish market of the gramophone came, like many other things, somewhat later than in other European countries. In addition, the fact that no indigenous manufacturer emerged in our country to provide its own technology, made the invention develop in our borders more slowly than in neighboring countries. Much of the manufacturing of talking machines in our country was made possible by the creation of partnerships between international firms and local companies. And in many cases foreign parts were needed for the manufacture of models. A magnificent piece of national creation indispensable in any collection. Measurements: 56 cm diameter x 72 cm long (horn); 45 x 42 x 22 cm (box).
