Precious Horn Gramophone with Goldring reproducer manufactured in the 1st quarter of the XXth century. It consists of a decorative quadrangular box in wood of two colors and precious decorated panels. It sits on four discreet legs and a dark concave base, decorated with a succession of vegetal forms. On the four sides of the box we find representations of Greek beauties with angels, framed in decorative garlands and beautifully made scrolls. The dark colored edges make the reliefs stand out much more, marked by a clear contrast, making this piece very beautiful aesthetically. Undoubtedly this is a very well made case, very different from the plain cases that we usually find in other gramophones. In the four upper corners it has four little metallic flowers that make it even more decorative. Both the beautiful case and the striking horn make this gramophone a magnificent piece. Attached is a Goldring brand reproducer in good condition, something to take into account if we want to listen to a melody in this fantastic piece from the first day. The wooden crank on the right side is totally original. It has a brake on the front right side of the cymbal, which allows to stop the melody if desired. In this very special piece stands out without a doubt the precious aluminum horn in sky blue color with the interior in wine red color, which makes it an extremely beautiful piece. The horn has been restored, although it does not detract one iota of beauty but makes it look like a practically new piece. This fantastic gramophone enjoys excellent aesthetic and functional characteristics, and the case is in very good condition considering the period. The mechanism is in good condition, ready to make it work from the first moment, as it also attaches several discs and needles. The gramophone will be a tough competitor of the phonograph when the German Emile Berliner invented it in 1887. It was an innovative reproducer device not based on the cylinder invented by the well-known Edison, but on that round surface despised by the father of the phonograph. With the gramophone, the recording was developed laterally, through the groove, instead of the up and down movement of the phonograph. Between the disc and the cylinder there would be a bloody struggle, which would finally win the record thanks to an aggressive advertising campaign that would make this format get more and more followers. Listening to music from a device as beautiful as this will be a real pleasure!Measurements: 79 x 36 cm (total); 48 x 60 cm (speaker).
