Sober and smart His Masters Voice gramophone, made in the 1920s. It is an original gramophone and in no way a reproduction. The name His Masters Voice (HMV) was adopted by the Gramophone and Typewriter Company after purchasing a picture with the same title, painted by F. Barraud and which showed a dog listening to a gramophone. From then on, the image and the title became the brands logo and name. Both have remained until nowadays. This gramophone is model 103 and provides an excellent sound: the motor is very silent and the quality of reproduction is great. The motor lets the user reproduce a whole record and even lasts longer. The box is made of solid oak wood, with a nice dark gold color and the well-known mottled veneer. It is square and the cover is softly molded. At the front there are two small symmetrical doors that house a gap with shelves to put records away. The wood is in very good condition, with no broken or missing parts, and it even preserves the two small round knobs. Ii we lift the cover we can reach the plate and the reproducer, than can be operated with the crank located on the right side of the box. All the components are original and work perfectly. The reproducer is Nº 4 by His Masters Voice, which appears in the scription that is written on it: His Masters Voice Nº 4 The Gramophone Co. Ltd. Hayex, Middlesex, England. Inside the cover there is also a colored label with the famous image of the dog and the gramophone, and again the name of the firm. Under it we can see a small plate with the following inscription: The Gramophone Company Ltd Patents Applied For. All these details are the finishing touch for an original and exclusive article, whose wonderful sound will carry the charm of a vintage gramophone to the most special living or music room. Measurements: 395 mm width x 560 mm height (cover up).
