Fine small portable gramophone made in England in 1925. This is a Cameraphone gramophone, with leather-covered wooden box which opens to show the turntable, the reproducer and the soundbox. The turntable is formed by three folding spokes on which the records rest, and the elbow that holds the reproducer also supports a curious soundbox: an ovoid faux tortoiseshell element made of bakelite, with a series of gaps through which the sound comes out. All this gramophones parts are original except for the two front screws that substitute the knobs, currently lost. The box is completely covered by reddish leather, with seams all around. This finish is in quite good condition, especially if we consider that this device has many years of use before. At the boxs front there is a metal-framed hole in which the crank which operates the gramophone must be inserted. The reproducer bears the following inscription: CAMERAPHONE WILL PLAY ANY RECORD MADE IN ENGLAND. Inside the boxs cover we can read another inscription: CAMERAPHONE BRITISH MADE THROUGHOUGHT THE PORTABLE OF PORTABLES. The Cameraphone was a popular gramophon in the 1920s, especially in picnics and open-air parties. This particular model has survived to our days in good conditions. It is surely a very original piece, different from classic vintage gramophones because of its singular and attractive design. This portable Cameraphone is the ideal piece to complete a good collection of antique music reproducers. Measurements:130 mm width x 18 mm depth x 17 mm height.
