Delicate antique Perfectaphone mantel gramophone, made in France circa 1920 and in very good condition. The gramophone boasts a beautiful and decorative look. This striking device has a fine solid-mahogany wooden box with a nice golden reddish color. The woods surface is protected by a French-polish finis that provides it with a gorgeous warm shine. The metal component parts that make up the gramohpones mechanism are very well preserved too, with only slight signs of the trace of time that create an interesting patina. The gramophones reproducer is original from the period. It bears the brand name PERFECTAPHONE clearly printed in capital letters. Perfectaphone was a gramophone and record company founded by Constantin Furne in Paris circa 1910. It was active until 1934, when financial problems led it to the liquidation. The reproducer or soundbox is connected to a silvery metal arm; in turn, the arm is screwed to the top of the box. At one of the boxs sides we can see the classic metal and wooden crank used to wind up the motor. The gramophones box is squared in shape and boasts a simple design. At the front we can see a series of holes that make up an art-deco-style fan-shaped trellis. These holes let out the sound that comes out of the inner loudspeaker. The boxs base is wide and has a molded edge; it stands on four small legs, almost invisible. The corners are adorned by lovely hand-carved fringes that add a very special charm to the stylized design of the box. For its great sound and elegant look, this antique Perfectaphone mantel gramophone is the ideal piece of furniture for the most special room. Measurements: Width: 14.6 in / 37 cm.
