Awesome antique His Masters Voice gramophone model 103, made in England in the 1930s. The gramophone boasts a sober design much to the taste of the time, with a lovely oak wooden box. The wood looks wonderful, with the fine golden color and deep veneer typical of the specie and the French-polish finish original from the period. The finish has been carefully restored in order to show off the great look that we can appreciate in the photographs. The gramophones motor has also been fully cleaned and fine-tuned so today it works perfectly and can play records with a really amazing sound. The mechanism is composed of different chrome-plated metal parts, in excellent condition and fully original. The reproducer or soundbox is a HIS MASTERS VOICE Nº 4 model with the brand name engraved at the back side. Inside the boxs lid we can see an original colorful decal, perfectly preserved and with the classic image of a dog listening to a horn gramophone. Just by the turntable there is a white-plastic circular plate with the engraved brand logo, the model (103) and the gramophones serial number: Nº 15994. As beautiful as functional, this antique His Masters Voice mantel gramophone is an iconic piece with an outstanding sound. Measurements: Width: 13 in / 40 cm. Height: 15.75 in / 33 cm. Depth: 18.5 in /47 cm.History of His Masters Voice Inside the cover we find the famous brand logo with the inscription HIS MASTERS VOICE clearly printed in golden lettering. The brand was created in 1899 from a picture by Francis Barraud depicting the dog Nipper listening to his dead owners voice coming from a phonograph. The Gramophone Company bought the picture, but before they told Barraud to change the phonograph for a gramophone of their own. The rest is history: the image became worldly famous and the firm eventually changed its company name for the brand name. The Gramophone Company, based in the United Kingdom, was one of the early recording companies. The company was merged with the Columbia Graphophone Company in 1931 to form Electric and Musical Industries Limited (EMI).
