Original antique Supreme mantel gramophone, made in France in 1930 for the Spanish market. This is why we can see the original logo with the French name Supreme inside the cover, while the reproducer bears the Spanish name SUPREMO engraved in the metal. The gramophones motor has been fully overhauled in order to guarantee a perfect working order; nowadays it sounds great. The motor includes an original reproducer or soundbox and automatic brake. The box is made of wood and shows off a fine dark finish which combines mahogany (box) and walnut (lid) colors. The finish is not in optimal condition but it can be easily restored by a professional. The box shows off a fine design with straight and sober lines. It follows the art-deco style which was so popular in those days, combining an attractive formal elegance with a strong purity of lines. The boxs front side mounts two symmetrical doors that open to clear the speaker and let out the sound when the gramophone is working. The doors bear mahogany-color frames and honey-colored pinewood panels. Each panel is decorated with a central marquetry detail which combines different colors. Behind the doors there is a wooden plank with filigree-disposed openings. The openings are covered by a yellow fabric that hides the speaker. The component parts that make up the gramophones mechanism (arm, reproducer, turntable, crank) are made of silvery metal and remain in great condition. Inside the lid we can see the original golden decal with the brand name Supreme, wonderfully preserved too. This amazing antique Supreme gramophone is an original piece, in great working order and with a remarkable decorative potential. Measurements (Closed): Width: 18,5 in / 47 cm.
