Antique and delicate KID portable gramophone in excellent condition. The gramophone works fine; the motor has been fully cleaned, tuned and greased in order to ensure a perfect performance. This piece was manufactured in France in 1920 and stands out for its simple, contemporary and elegant design. Its wooden case is quite remarkable for its fine rectangular shape; it is made up of thick, high-quality solid-mahogany planks. The wood looks really fine and remains in great condition. It preserves the original antique satin finish (properly restored) which shows almost no signs of worn or faded parts. When folded, the gramophone looks like a lovely mahogany wooden suitcase with chrome-plated handle and metalwork. Once opened, in order to play the records the user must produce the arm-and-reproducer set out of the gap hidden under the turntable. Once the arm has been connected, he or she must only put the crank in its place to start using the gramophone. Under the lid the wood is also in amazing condition, and the same can be said about the chrome-plated component parts that make up the mechanism. They all look shiny, even and show no traces of rust at all. The original reproducer or soundbox shows an inscription in French, still clearly legible: MAESTROPHONE REPRODUCER DUPLEX GRAND PRIX MILAN 1906. On the other hand, inside the lid there is a small riveted brass plate with the brand name PHONO KID DEPOSÉ. All these details, together with the high-quality mahogany wood and the beautiful design of the gramophone, turn it into a real collectors piece. Bound to shine in a great living room or in a space for both music and antiques, this portable KID gramophone will delight all lovers of quality pieces. Measurements (Closed): Width: 28 cm.
