Antique Spanish Serrano and Arpí Gramophone. Spain, Circa 1930

Very elegant and antique mantel gramophone in really good condition and great working order. This item was made in Barcelona, Spain circa 1930 and is signed by Serrano y Arpí A.M., a company which built gramophones and mechanical devices in the early 20th century. The gramophone boasts a classic and sober design with straight-lined mahogany wooden box. The beautiful wood has been carefully restored and preserves the original French-polish finish that protects and embellishes its surface. Today, the noble wood shows off its wonderful dark-red color in excellent condition. The gramophones motor has been cleaned and fine-tuned and today it works fine. The chrome-plated component parts (turntable, reproducer, arm, knobs and crank) are original from the time; the plated finish remains in amazing condition and looks shiny and even. The reproducer bears the inscription APARATOS FONOGRÁFICOS AM MARCA REGISTRADA engraved in its metal body. On the other hand, the motor bears the serial number 555422 engraved over a logo depicting a cross and a bugle (Swiss motor). Inside the gramophones wooden lid we can see a slightly-worn colored decal with the AM inscription. Just beside the turntable there is a riveted metal plate with the manufacturing companys name. One of their landmarks was their wide range of gramophones and phonographs, and the accessories and spare parts they sold for their proper maintenance. As well as talking machines, they also manufactured rotating motors for storefronts, so the exposed items could be perfectly admired.
