Superb antique gramophone in excellent condition, with a stunning look and in wonderful working order. This device was originally made in 1925 and was later recovered by Antonio Banús, a famous Spanish gramophone collector and restorer that regained a lot of amazing antique pieces. He was the son of Antonio Banús Alimbau who in the 1920s founded the company Teledino in Tarragona, Spain. This firm manufactured radios, gramophones and radio-jukeboxes. The gramophone that we can see in the images is art-nouveau in style and is mostly made of solid wood, being the striking horn the most appealing part of the device. For its beauty, great design and good condition, this gramophone deserves a special piece in a stylish and classy home. The motor is an English model made by Garrard, with a high quality and amazing sound. It works perfectly and is really the ideal complement for this beautiful gramophone. The box is made of dark mahogany wood decorated with inlaid light-colored wooden strips. It is embellished with turned pillars at the corners and delicate metal side details depicting art-nouveau-style scenes. The elbow that holds the arm and the horn is made of brass and bears a lovely engraved decoration. The arm is also made of brass and is connected to the original reproducer. The stunning horn that crowns the gramophone is made of a combination of mahogany wood and light-colored wood. It is a morning-glory piece with a fine French-polish finish. The box bears a metal plate with the Parlophone brand name in it, included by Banús just as a decorative detail (the gramophone is not a Parlophone model). In the 1970s, Antonio Banús started to restore old-time gramophones using antique and artisanal techniques similar to those used to manufacture these devices in the early 20th century. Thanks to him, many priceless pieces like this great gramophone have survived to our days. More information: http://www.coleccionfb.com/firmas_catalanas_3.htm.
