Antique British portable gramophone made in England circa 1925, in good condition and great working order. This is a charming old-time piece with a very special design and really good sound. The motors component parts are all original from the time, except the screw that connects the needle to the reproducer (it seems to have been replaced later). It works perfectly and makes it possible to play antique records with a loud and fine sound. The only part that is not in operation is the front lock that holds the cover in its place when the gramophone is closed. The arm with the reproducer is stored inside the cover. This part is covered with a polished metal sheet, shiny and finely preserved. The reproducer bears the inscription ATLAS Nº 2 British Make printed in light-ochre lettering on a black background. The silvery metal the arm and the reproducer are made of is in good condition and shows no traces of rust. The same can be said about the turntable (which preserves the original green velvet) and the crank. This piece mounts a black-lacquered wooden handle; the lacquered finish is somewhat worn by the trace of time but is almost complete. The casing is made of wood and squared in shape. It is covered of leatherette with a crocodile-skin print and a sober and elegant dark brown color. The fine engraving that imitates the reptiles scales provides the gramophone with a very special look and turns it into a singular item. Outside the leatherette is in very good condition; the corners and edges show signs of wear but in general the material is finely preserved. The gramophone also keeps the original leather handle, essential to transport it. This antique British portable gramophone will shine in any living room or collection for its original design and wonderful sound. Measurements (Closed) Width: 7.6 in / 19 cm. Depth: 8 in / 20 cm.
