Antique Le Stradivox gramophone model 1 made by luthiers, coming from France and dated in the 1930s. This is the only gramophone ever designed and manufactured by luthiers, experts which make musical instruments by hand. The woods used in its manufacture are the same used to build musical instruments (especially violins), so the resonance of this gramophones box is really exceptional. The motor that bring the gramophone to life is exceptional too, very silent and equipped with automatic brake system. All these features turn the gramophone into an amazing item with a stunningly good sound quality. Le Stradivox gramophones (the brand name derived from Stradivarius) were manufactured in Mirecourt, France, at the Laberte et Magnie factory. The company belonged to Marc Laberte and Fourier Magnié; the first one, a renowned luthier, was the founder of the business. Their portable gramophones were considered the best ones of those times (early 20th centurt) for the quality of the resonance provided by the wood used in their construction. The motor of the gramophone that we can see in the images is located under a solid oak wood plank, with the engraved Magniè signature and the inscription Maetre Luthier. Moreover, inside the cover we can see a big-sized paper label with the handwritten signature together with Nº 81 and Serie B1. The suitcase where the gramophone is mounted remains in a really exceptional condition. It is entirely covered by a strong fabric with a shiny finish, decorated in black and red colors with a fine faux tortoise-shell look. Inside the box has a wooden plank with a gorgeous bright orange finish. In the center there is a greatly-preserved circular sticker with silver background and orange frame, containing the gramophones name, Le Stradivox Magniè. The suitcase preserves the original silvery metal locks and the handle, all of them in amazing condition. This outstanding antique Le Stradivox gramophone made by luthiers is a real collectors piece, with an amazing sound quality and a gorgeous presence. Measurements: Width: 11.2 in / 28 cm.
