Antique gramophone with wooden horn made in 1920 and in very good condition. This gorgeous item was probably restored in the 1970s by Antonio Banús, a renowed gramophone collector and restorer who was the son of Antonio Banús Alimbao (founder of the radio and gramophone factory Teledino, created in Tarragona in the 1920s). This gramophone stands out for its excellent working order and amazing look, which clearly reflects the art deco style which was fashionable at the period. It mounts a high-quality Thorens motor which makes it possible to play antique records with a loud and clear sound. The gramophone box is made of solid oak wood and bears a striking mahogany-colored finish that provides it with glow and dept. It bears a discreet and stylish decoration of hand-carved decorative panels and art deco brass details at every side and corner. The brass details are original from the period and remain in great condition, just like the wood. At the top of the box, just beside the turntable we can see a brass plate with the name of the shop where the gramophone was once sold: ALMACENES JORBA BARCELONA. There is also a small compartment for the spare needles and a metal plate with the commercial name Salabert. Over the box stands the superb light-colored wooden horn, a Morning Glory piece in amazing condition. The horn is connected to the reproducer through a chromed-metal arm; the whole set is attached to the box by an elbow of the same material. The elbow is decorated with a fine art deco motif composed of abstract curved shapes. The reproducer is a Selecta model with the brand name printed in silvery lettering on a black background. This wonderful antique gramophone with wooden horn is a real collectors piece, as beautiful as original. Measurements: Box: Side: 17.8 in / 44.5 in. Height: 8.7 in / 21 cm.
