Beautiful antique Fadas horn gramophone or phonograph made in Madrid, Spain, circa 1915. This fine item, smaller than usual although equally functional, has survived to our days in great condition. It is in very good working order and works really fine, making it possible to play old-time records with a loud and clear sound. The company Fadas, located in Madrid, was founded in the early 20th century to manufacture gramophones and records. In 1915 it became the main distributor of Odeon gramophone records. Their headquarters were located at Peligros St., 14-15 (currently Preciados St., 1), where they had their own recording studio. The gramophone which we can see in the images has an oval metal nameplate just by the turntable, with the company name and address clearly engraved. The gramophones box is made of solid mahogany wood and shows a stylish and simple design. It preserves the original French-polish finish which provides the wood with a warm and fine glow. The sides are adorned with Modernist-style brass openwork appliques depicting birds and flowers. All parts of the gramophone are of the period, except for the felt of the plate. The reproducer is original from the time and is connected to a great red-enameled metal Morning Glory horn with gold-painted nerves. The enamel is original from the time and is finely preserved, showing only some small flaws which hardly interfere with the gramophones great look. For its inherent elegance and great sound, this antique Fadas horn gramophone will stand out in any living or music room. Dimensions: Box: Side: 9.45 in / 24 cm. Height: 5.51 in / 14 cm.
