Antique His Masters Voice gramophone-phonograph made in France circa 1920, in great condition and with an amazing sound. This device is entirely original from the time, except for the turntables felt (which has been substituted) and the horns finish, renewed some time ago. The oak wooden box with moldings shows a sober and balanced design, being exceptionally preserved. The wood is protected by a delicate French-polish finish which enhances its good looks. The Morning Glory metal horn has a washed finish, applied with pink enamel on a black background. The arm which connects the reproducer and the horn and the elbow which supports this set are made of silvery metal, in spectacular condition too. At the box, the front side preserves the original decal with the famous image of the dog Nipper listening to a gramophone. This antique His Masters Voice gramophone does justice to the prestige of the manufacturing company, for its lovely design and wonderful sound. Dimensions: Box: Side: 14.17 in / 16 cm. The image depicts the dog Nipper listening to his dead owners voice coming from a phonograph. The Gramophone Company bought the picture, but before they told Barraud to change the phonograph for a gramophone of their own. The rest is history: the image became worldly famous and the firm eventually changed its company name for the brand name. The Gramophone Company, based in the United Kingdom, was one of the early recording companies. The company was merged with the Columbia Gramophone Company in 1931 to form Electric and Musical Industries Limited (EMI).
