Very rare horn gramophone made in the Netherlands in 1920. This is a very special article because of its peculiar design. The gramophone has a solid wooden box and on its right side we can see, together with the crank, a lever to start and stop the motor. This is a very strange feature and the installation of the motor is also rare enough: instead of being attached to the inner side of the plate, it is screwed to the wooden boxs base. The gramophone has also a speed regulator located between the crank and the lever. This piece keeps all its original components and works perfectly. The gramophones wooden box boasts a nice brownish red finish which makes a fine contrast with the silvery metal and brass components. The elbow and arm which hold the horn and the reproducer are made of silvery metal. The elbow bears a lovely engraved decoration in the shape of a stylized flower; it is just where the piece joins the wooden box and adorns both sides of the elbow. The horn is made of golden brass and is very well preserved, showing off its majestic presence enhanced by the metals deep shine. The rest of the components are of silvery metal and the cranks handle is made of oak wood; it is in wonderful condition. The box stands on a discreet pedestal made up by a molding and four high flat legs. At the front there is a small brass plate screwed to the molding, with an inscription that says: FA DONDERS - VERMEER MUZIEK INSTRUMENTEN SPOORLAAN 6 TILBURG. This is very probably the name and address of the shop where the gramophone was originally purchased. On the other hand, this plate and the rest of the gramophones parts are completely original and in good condition, letting the user reproduce records like the first day thanks to its silent motor and clear sound. This rare and exclusive vintage gramophone will be the perfect piece to complete an excellent collection of musical reproducers from the early 20th century.
