Amazing vintage gramophone in great condition and excellent working order. This article comes from Germany and was made in 1920, having survived to our days with its original beauty and great sound. The gramophone works very well and has a silent motor, providing a neat and clear sound. The spectacular horn is especially remarkable because of its great size and lobed mouth. The horn has been fully restored and it looks as shiny and lovely as new, and so are the elbow and the arm which hold this piece and the reproducer. The gramophones box, made of solid oak wood, is also very nice and has been carefully restored.Attached to the front side of the box there is an ancient and charming illustration. The drawing depicts some graceful women dressed in classical clothes and dancing with two naked kids that cover themselves with veils. The illustration is slightly distressed; this feature provides it with an attractive patina full of authenticity. The gramophones box is made with different pieces of solid oak wood that boasts its nice golden brown color and the deep veneer typical of this kind of wood. The corners of the box are carved with vertical grooves which make an interesting contrast with the horizontal veneer of the panels and with the sober molding of the base. The cranks handle, on the other hand, is made of beech wood and is also well preserved. As stated before, the arm, elbow and horn have been restored. The reproducer is Harmony brand and works very well.If we turn the gramophone upside down we will see the motor and a ?-shaped logo engraved in the metal. It is Parlophone brands logo and this means that the motor was made in one of their workshops. Parlophon was founded in Germany in 1896 as a branch of Carl Lindström Company. The L of the logo is actually the first letter of Lindström. This brand began producing gramophones, and in 1923 opened a branch in the United Kindom, where the name acquired the final e and became Parlophone. It became one of the most important record companies in the world, especially when in the 1960s they hired The Beatles and produced their first nine albums. This gramophone is not only a striking decorative item, but is great sound and ancient age turn it into a real collectors item.
