Exclusive and rare Mikiphone pocket gramophone made in Switzerland in 1924. Mikiphone pocket gramophones are real collectors items that nowadays have become rare pieces, very sought after by lovers of vintage musical reproducers. Mikiphone gramophone was patented by Vadasz brothers in Switzerland and the original slogan was undoubtedly true: the smallest pocket gramophone in the world. Its circular shape when closed and the silvery tin that contains the lot are the reason of the nickname under which the Mikiphone was known: the cheese tin. Curiously enough, many people think that Mikiphone owes its name to Mickey Mouse as the unfolded gramophone is quite similar to the famous cartoons head profile. But this cannot be true as the popular mouse was not very known in 1924, when the model was patented.The gramophones small size must not mislead us: once assemble, the Mikiphone can easily play 25 cm records. The horn or speaker is the bakelite box that comes into the tin and it must be directly connected to the reproducer in order to effectively fulfill its role. This particular piece is in good working order and boasts a very rare feature: inside it contains a round embossed Mikiphone tin with spare needles for the reproducer. These tins are quite rare.This Mikiphone gramohpone is in very good condition. One of the metal pieces has the gramophones serial number engraved: 26-0013096. The other metal piece and the reproducer bear also the name of the maker and some data that confirm its authenticity: MIKIPHONE POCKET PHONOGRAPH - SYSTEM VADASZ SWISS MADE PATENTED IN ALL COUNTRIES.
