This incredible horn gramophone was made in the USA in 1904. It has been completely restored, from the oak wooden box to the strikingly beautiful lacquered-metal horn. It has also been fully revised in order to provide an impeccable working order. The motor is very silent and the gramophone sounds wonderfully, providing an insuperable reproduction quality. Its great beauty, excellent condition and good sound turn this gramophone into a real star: it is a great decorative and functional item.Just by the plate we can see an embedded label with the name of the model: FAVORITE. The reproducer is an Exhibition, and we can read this name printed in the element together with the country of manufacturing, the company (The Gramophone Co. Ltd.) and the places where this company operated. It is a classical reproducer, usually present in His Masters Voice (HMV) gramophones, and its quality is confirmed by the great sound it provides. One of the most curious features of this piece is that it has a slot designed to insert coins, decorated with a brass plate bearing the words EIN WURF 10 HELLER). This feature was probably designed for customers as a tip system, and people were required to insert a coin before operating the gramophone. At the left side, a small key operates a lock that opens a drawer: this place was disposed to store the inserted coins. Otherwise the gramophone works just like similar models of those times: operating the motor by turning the crank at the right side of the box. The box is made of solid oak wood and boasts a simple and elegant design, being also in perfecto condition. The same can be said of the horn, probably the most outstanding element in this lovely gramophone. It is made of lacquered metal sheet and boasts a light pink finish that darkens gradually till becoming bright red at the mouth. The gramophones startling look, the appropriate restoration work and the wonderful sound it provides are reasons enough to fall in love with it. This item is bound to be the star of the most luxurious room.Measurements: Box: Width: 320 mm. Height: 290 mm. Horn: Length: 620 mm. Mouth (diam.): 540 mm.
