This is a beautiful Spanish pendant from the age of King Alfonso XIII, made in the early 20th century (probably in the 20s decade) with high-quality materials: solid 18 K gold, platinum, diamonds and ivory. The style of the pendant is called chapel style, and is a typical style for this kind or jewels: a little chapel houses an image or figure, normally a saint. In this case it is a figure of Virgin Mary. The image is made of finely carved ivory, in good condition. The small chapel that houses it is made of solid 18 K gold. Around the ivory figure there are several platinum overlays with a total of seventeen diamonds of antique cutting. The overall is as rich as valuable, and the delicate making that shows comes along with the quality of the materials to make up a lovely piece of antique jewelry. The pendant comes into an antique case. Though it is not the original case, it goes well with the size and style of the jewel, being also the perfect place to keep and protect it. Because of its elaborate making and its beauty, this pendant constitutes a fine example of antique jewelry which will stand out in the most demanding collectors showcase. Pendant measurements: 50 mm high x 34 mm width.
