This wonderful instrument is a spectroscope dating from the turn of the 19th century: a charming, quality and beautiful device perfect to become part of the best collection. The spectroscope was manufactured in England and draws powerfully our attention because of its impressively good condition. It keeps all its original component parts, all of them greatly preserved, with the original laquer, in working order and comes in its solid wooden case, whicjh is even rarer. Even the prism is present and in good conditions. This is a precision instrument with a state-of-art delicate design, a rare and fantastic piece worthy of a museum. Spectroscopes are used to measure the properties of light over a specific portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, typically used in spectroscopic analysis to identify materials. The one that we can see in these images bears the inscription TOWNSON & MERCER engraved in the black circular iron plate located at the center of the instrument. This name corresponds to a manufacturer of scientific laboratory instruments and material, located in London and with more than two hundred years old. The spectroscope is composed of a golden brass tripod that supports the structures three basic elements: the eyepiece, the light source and the plate with the prism. The glass prism is the original one and is in excellent condition. The brass elements are really beautiful and have the original antique transparent lacquered finish. The instrument stands on a square mahogany wood; the case where the device is stored is made of the same noble material. It is in very good condition and preserves the original lock and key in working order. Because of its intrinsic beauty and wonderful condition, this spectroscope will be the starring piece of a great collection of scientific antiques. Measurements: Width: 13.3 in / 34 cm.
