The piece you are looking at is an antique laboratory piece, an antique spectroscope from the late 19th century, 1870-1900.It comes accompanied with its custom made case in wood, also antique. The spectroscope was and is a scientific instrument used to determine the type of substance that makes up a sample through the frequencies and wavelengths of light passing through it.It is in very good condition. It is made of brass and metal and is quite heavy, 10 kilos. The set still has three prisms. One is in good condition, the other one is damaged and there is a small triangular bottle, to analyze gases and liquids.A small collection of Scientific Antiques, they look great decorating offices and homes.
