Fine German mantel clock made of solid walnut wood in the 1940s. This clock boasts a simple tough rotund design that joins its balanced shape with the beautiful noble wood it is made of. The clock works perfectly: its movement has been fully revised so it has come to us in optimal condition. It chimes the hours and the halves and keeps all its original parts and components. The clock stands on four solid legs, also skillfully carved in the shape of animal claws. The front shows off the walnuts lovely veneer, with a golden brown color that shines in full splendor. The wood is in great condition and preserves its original polish that glows with a warm satin finish. The clocks face is really simple: it is composed of twelve brass Roman numbers attached to the wood, with two holes designed to wind up and set the movement. These elements are framed by an engraved metal ring connected to the glass door by a hinge. The clocks base, as stated before, is hand-engraved with classic moldings and vegetal-inspired volutes in al clear romantic style. At the back there is a rectangular door with a lock that keeps the original key. Inside we can see the clocks movement, made of polished brass and in wonderful condition. The movement has at the right bottom corner we can read the inscription 12cm/196 engraved in the metal.
