Clock with Candlesticks, S. XIX

Wonderful French mantel clock and candelabra set, made of golden bronze in the 1900s. This set has survived to our days in excellent condition: the three pieces are complete and with no visible flaws, and they keep all their original parts. The clocks movement has been cleaned and adjusted so nowadays it works perfectly. The set is baroque in style and the bronze is crafted with a lot of volute, masks and vegetal-inspired details that turn this item into a state-of-art piece.The clock is smart and stylish. Its central box, rectangular in shape, stands on four legs that emerge from a profusely decorated base. Over the face we can see a complicated scallop-shaped motive. The overall is crowned by a cup decorated with a sphinx-shaped medal (a winged female bust). At the sides, two lions heads hold hanging rings in their jaws. The face is made of bronze and is part of the box; it has twelve inset white medals with black Roman numbers. At the back of the clock there is a door that lets us reach the inside movement that shows the inscription H&F PARIS and the serial number 3535 engraved in the metal.The two candelabra are very elegant pieces, identical and delicately manufactured. They have four arms each that together with the central candle holder make up five lights per piece. The bases are just like the clocks, boasting the same decoration style at the legs and with similar volutes embellishing them. At the center, each piece has a medal engraved with a motive composed of symmetrical volutes. From this medal emerge the central stem with the highest candle holder on top, crowning the piece.
