Striking French mantel clock made of golden bronze in the 19th century. We are looking at a real collectors piece because of its beauty and ancient age. The clock is in impeccable condition and working order, and has been fully fine-tuned to guarantee it. It has 8-day Paris movement and chimes the hours and the halves. The box is made of hand-engraved bronze, with an amazing decoration performed in detail. On the other hand, the numbers are the original ones: they are tailor-made of white and black porcelain in order to fit perfectly in the gaps.The box boasts an architectural design full of neoclassical decorative elements. It stands on four solid Roman-style legs that support a structure curved at the top. At the front, from the center of the bases molding emerge two volutes creating a bouquet that opens under the face, protected by a circular glass. The clock is flanked by two masks with female faces. Each mask is holding a ribbon-shaped piece of bronze whose opposite ends is held by a lions jaws.Crowning this decorative display we can see a stylized cup-shaped piece that stands on the clock and increases greatly its height. The whole piece is adorned with lots of bronze motives and elements in the shape of filigrees, volutes and other decorative details. At the back of the clock there is a translucent glass door that lets us reach the movement. This bears the serial number 1233 engraved in the metal.
