This beautiful mantel clock was made in France in the early 20th century (1900). In spite of being more than one hundred years old, the clock is in excellent condition and works very well. The movement has been revised and fine-tuned so we can guarantee its perfect working order. This clocks design is called amphora style, as its box imitates an ancient ceramic amphora. The article is made of enameled and golden bronze and is quite remarkable because of its singular decorative potential. The clocks box is quite stylized and a great part of its surface is covered by a crackled brown enamel finish that simulates crocodile skin. It is a very original finish and it is in very good condition. This surface is also adorned with several golden bronze details: from the four fine legs that support the clock, curved and decorated with engraved flowers, to the side handles, the piece that frames the face and the crowning detail. This last piece is especially attractive: it depicts an open-winged eagle that seats on a flat bronze sphere. The clocks face is circular in shape and is made of white porcelain. It is framed by golden fringes and has black Arab numbers. On both sides of the face, two hanging handles embellish the clocks sides: they are shaped like laurel wreaths and hang from two figureheads. At the back of the clock there is a circular door that lets us reach the movement. This is made of golden metal and bears an engraved serial number: 10729.This ancient clocks original design and great condition turn it into an attractive antique, full of beauty and interest.Measurements: Width: 10.6 in/27 cm.
