It is made of golden bronze and comes from France, having been manufactured in the 19th century. The clock and the candelabra are in amazing condition, with no visible flaws and preserving all the original parts and joints. The clock has a pendulum and an 8-day Paris movement; it chimes the hours and the halves. The movement has been carefully fine-tuned to guarantee a good working order. The clocks movement bears and engraved circular mark with the inscription JAPY FRÈRES MED. DHONNEUR and the seria number 14623. The company grew rapidly and in 1801 it already employed three hundred workers. It remained active during many decades and was always a family business until 1933, when it eventually disappeared. The clocks box is very beautiful, shaped as a small temple and standing on four airy legs. It boasts a complicated decoration full of moldings, volutes and masks. It is crowned by a smart cup-shaped detail with two delicate sphinxes, one at each side. The clocks face is white with black Arab numbers and a fine filigree bronze detail in the center. The candelabra, with four lights each, boast the same decorative details and have remained in magnificent condition.
