Wonderful pendulum mantel clock made of bronze and in a fine sculptural style. This amazing piece was made in France in the 19th century. The clock has 8-day Paris movement and chimes the hours and the quarters. The movement has been fully fine-tuned so the clock now works perfectly. The bronze box boasts a gorgeous decoration that creates a great neoclassic-style piece, as elegant as remarkable. The clock has an ample square base that stands on four small turned legs. This architectural-style base is decorated with four marine beasts that adorn its corners. These fish-looking mythological animals lift their wavy tails and bear pinnacles on their big heads. Their baroque and naturalist look creates a great contrast with the classic style of the clock. At the front of the base there is a lovely mask depicting a womans face with closed eyes. The clocks face, located in the center, is made of golden bronze and has Roman numbers. It is crowned by a big spherical cup decorated with fabric cloths and winged angel heads. There are two cornucopias, one at each side of the clocks face, whose points are leaning on the cup. The clocks movement bears an engraved mark with the manufacturers logo and name, JAPY FRÉRES. It also shows the engraved number 553. On the other hand, the pendulum bob bears the serial number 4520. This impressive antique bronze clock is an exclusive piece for its amazing design and excellent working order. Measurements: Width: 9.29 in / 24 cm. Height: 18.1 in /47 cm.
