Elegant Clock Set with Wood and Brass Candlesticks. France, 1900s

Attractive mantel clock and candlesticks set in excellent condition. This set has been professionally restored and nowadays the wood and the metal shine in all their glory. The clocks movement has been revised and fine-tuned in order to guarantee an impeccable working order. This is a thread pendulum clock that chimes the hours and the halves, with an ancient Paris silk threat movement. The set comes from France from the late 19th century (circa 1900). The clock has a great solid walnut wooden box with dark and prominent veneer and a rich golden brown color. It is a beautiful box, decorated with brass strips that frame all the wooden panels. In the center we can see the circular face, made of white-enameled metal sheet and with black Roman numbers. It has straight black hands with circles in the pointed ends, and is protected by a glass door with a brass frame. If we open the rear door we will rich the amazing antique movement with thread pendulum and in excellent working order. The clock is accompanied by two stylized candlesticks, two sober and classy pieces that create a very appealing set. Both have a cylindrical stem made of walnut wood, slightly narrower at the bottom end. The stem is supported by a polished brass conical base; the top part of each candlestick is made of this same material. This top part is composed of a hollow piece that connects with the wooden mast, a tapered stem and a candle holder with its saucer. This is a classic design, but in forecasts the simple modern style that characterizes certain turn-of-the-century artistic trends.
