This lovely wooden clock is a very special piece that can be used as a wall or mantel clock. It is an ancient article, more than one hundred years old, made in Germany in 1900 and in really good condition. The wooden box is composed of hand-turned and carved pieces with lovely different color shades that make up a very attractive set. It is restored and boasts a beautiful satin finish. The clocks movement is also in good condition, as it has been cleaned and fine-tuned to guarantee an optimal performance. It can be reached through the clocks rear door. The golden brass pieces that attach the movement to the box are embellished with a series of fine decorative engraved motives. The clocks face is made of white-enameled metal with black Roman numbers. If we dismantle the clock, at the back of the movement we will find a logo with a crowned anchor, the initials GB and the word SILESIA. The inscription P42 corresponds to a particular movement created by the manufacturer. Gustav Becker was a Silesian clockmaker that lived and worked in the 19th century. In 1847 he established a small business in Freiburg, currently ?wiebodzice (Poland). In 1899, Becker founded his own clock company and moved to the German Black Forest. This stunning clock is a very attractive piece whose great working order speaks for the quality that was the trademark of Gustav Becker clocks. As for the box, it boasts a decorative, stylized and fine design. It is clearly a romantic-style design, with the box including a glass door that lets us see the clocks face. This piece is decorated by a semicircular hand-carved crowning piece and stands on two turned pillars with the pendulum bob between them. The pillars are supported by a rectangular base made up by different wood pieces. The clocks box has a rear metal piece designed to hang it from the wall.
