German Mantel Clock, ca. 1900.

Amazing antique quarter-repeating mantel clock, with silence function and hand-carved solid mahogany box. The clock comes from Germany and was manufactured circa 1900 in spite of being more than one hundred years old it is in great condition and working order. The movement has been thoroughly cleaned and overhauled so now it works like new. The clock chimes the quarters with their corresponding hour: after chiming the quarter it repeats the hour as a reminder. The wooden box has also been restored to the last detail in order to boast the awesome look that we can see in the images. The box is classical in style, with an elegant architectural-inspired temple-like shape. The mahogany wood shines with its lovely bright red color; we can appreciate its flame-shaped veneer at the boxs sides. On both sides of the glass door that protects the clocks face there are turned columns, with a frieze below and a roof-shaped crowning piece on top. All this elements are hand-turned and carved, and reveal the hand of an accomplished artist. The wood boasts a shiny traditional French-polish finish that enhances its beautiful surface. The silvery-metal face is attached to a golden brass background; it bears black Arab numbers and hands. To the right of the clocks face there is a small lever that activates the silence function (by which the clock stops chiming). Surrounding the face we can see three lovely golden details depicting volutes and garlands, classic and baroque in style. At the back we can see a small door made up by a wooden frame and a metal filigree plate covered by pink silk: this piece makes it possible for the carillon to be clearly heard. The pendulum movement bears an engraved oval mark with the initials M. B. inside and two more inscriptions: F18 and the serial number 64585. This stunning antique mantel clock will fill any room with its beauty. Its beautiful and deep sound turns it into a very special piece. Measurements: Width: 13.3 in / 34 cm. Height: 22 in / 56 cm.
