Precious Junghans mantel clock, Germany, First Third S. XX. Machinery signed as H. A. C. Two Arrows, meaning that the clock was manufactured by the prestigious Junghans brand in its version for the foreign market, for export outside Germany. Circular dial in white enamel with double border of black and red numerals, and pike hands. It is in magnificent conditions of conservation and operation, both the machinery and the elegant chestnut wood case with decorative golden brass applications. The dial is mounted on polished brass with vegetal decoration on the four corners and perfectly protected by a chestnut wood case, where simple rectangular shapes stand out in the base, two neoclassical columns and a crown formed by a decorative upper balustrade with wooden pinnacles. The machinery works perfectly and the winding lasts up to 14 days. It has an hour and a half chime and an alarm clock with a music box with different melodies, one of which is the famous Marseillaise. The clock retains its original winding key and pendulum. The first mantel clocks did not appear in France until 1750, and had to wait a decade to be consolidated in England, although Germany, and especially Switzerland, would also develop a large market years later. They were commonly called mantel clocks because of the place where they were placed in the house, around which the whole family gathered. A beautiful and elegant mantel clock in which to watch the time with a nostalgic air. Measures: 42 x 22 x 11 cm
