Spectacular set composed of a Neogotic mantle clock and a candelabra set, all of them made of plain and silvery bronze. This is a magnificent set made in France in the end of the 19th century, circa 1870. The clock and the candlesticks are in excellent condition and all their parts are original. The metal is clean and shiny, with no traces of dents or pitting. The clock works perfectly and keeps the original pendulum and key. The movement of the clock bears an engraved circular stamp with the name of the company that made it: Japy Frères & Cie. The company was founded by Frederic Japy and his two sons, Fritz and Louis, in 1806 (Beaucourt, France). The inscription also says that the company was awarded a Medal of Honor (Medal O. Honneur). Under the stamp we can see the number 7 engraved on the metal: it is the pendulums length (in inches). Just over this inscription we can also read the serial number: 6376. The clock is a very special piece and it has a beautiful pendulum, made in the same style as the rest of the set. The box is flanked by two rampant lions made of golden bronze, and the face bears a silvery central detail decorated with a lions face. The clock and the candelabra show a complicated decoration in a medieval style, similar to the one which adorns gothic cathedrals. The bronze combines some parts in its original golden color with others which have been carefully silvered. The twin candelabra are in good conditions condition, complete, and each one can hold four candles. The excellent condition of this wonderful set together with the clocks perfect working order, turn it into a luxury acquisition that any lover of antiques will undoubtedly appreciate. Measurements: Candlesticks: 210 mm width x 535 mm height. Clock: 275 mm width x 550 mm height.
