Wonderful antique mantel clock, classic in style and made of noble materials. The clock is a portico-style model made in the late 19th century and in amazing condition. The enamel face bears two small restorations (in the VIII and between the III and the IV), hardly noticeable and that scarcely interfere in the beautiful design. The clocks box is made of solid mahogany wood with a lovely marquetry decoration, made of lemongrass wood and greatly preserved. The face mounts an ormolu pendulum bob, a gorgeous piece completely decorated with embossed motives. This portico-style clock shows off a classic design which was quite popular in those days. Its neoclassical design depicts an antique buildings façade with its base, columns and threshold. The base is a solid and stable rectangular wooden piece that rests on four small legs. Its marquetry decoration can also be seen at the threshold; this feature creates a harmonious and balenced piece. The four columns that surround the face and the pendulum (and support the threshold) are cylindrical and also embellished with marquetry motives. The threshold includes a stylish ormolu top frieze. The clocks face stands out between the wooden pieces; the glow and luminosity of the ormolu and the white enamel make a lovely contrast with the warm mahogany wood. The face bears simple black Roman numbers and is surrounded by a gorgeous ormolu frame decorated with embossed motives. The same decoration adorns the magnificent pendulum. At the back of the clock, the movement that brings it to life bears the engraved manufacturers mark with the inscription BASCHET BAULLIER and the serial number 3370. This awesome antique mantel clock will display its beauty and charm in any place, whether it is a classic or a contemporary space. Measurements: Width: 10.4 in / 26.5 cm. Height: 20 in / 51 cm.
