Antique table clock with candlesticks. France, 19th Century

Fine antique mantel clock and candelabra set, made of bronze and very well preserved. The clock and the candelabra were manufactured in France in the 19th century and have survived to our days in amazing condition, with no missing or broken parts. The clocks movement has been thoroughly cleaned and tuned in order to guarantee a perfect working order, so today it is a beautiful and functional piece. It has a Paris 8 days movement and chimes the hours and halfs. The bronze these items are made of looks shiny and bright; they show off a wide array of volutes and embossed motives that turn this set into a highly decorative set. The clock shows off a classic and baroque design. The case stands on four small bronze legs, with a base decorated with a front detail that looks like a winged scallop. Over this detail, under the face we can see a delightful bronze embossed motive depicting a small cupid. Over the figure, two symmetrical sphinxes support the bronze face with black roman numbers painted on white porcelain pieces. The clocks face is protected by the original glass door. Crowning the spectacular piece there is a vase-shaped detail with a mask and garlands. At the rear side there is a small door that makes it possible to reach the movement, signed by H&F PARIS and with the numbers 222 and 82 engraved in the metal. The candelabra reproduce the clocks decorative style and are perfect to accompany it. The supporting base is identical to the clocks base; just over it we can see a stylized filigree piece decorated with two masks. The candelabras arms stand over these pieces; each one has five lights, four at the end of the arms and one crowning the whole piece and covered by the snuffer cap. The arms are firmly welded to the stem and create a harmonious and stylized shape, full of charm.
