This outstanding piece is an antique mantel clock with solid wooden case and including a barometer and a thermometer. The clock was made in England in 1889 and bears a silver plate with a hand-engraved dedicatory where we can see the date. It is in amazing condition, having been fully restored in order to preserve its original beauty. The clocks movement has also been overhauled so now we can guarantee its perfect working order. The clock's movement works 10-12 days with a single winding. The thermometer works fine, while the barometer is in working order but we cannot guarantee its precision. The clock boasts an elegant and balanced neoclassical design. The case is made of light-colored mahogany wood, quite attractive and luminous. It has base and top with molded edges and wooden trimming pieces at the corners. It is decorated with wonderful classic-style ormolu details: garlands, caryatids, moldings and vase-shaped crowning pieces. The contrast between the warm wood and the shiny metal creates a highly decorative piece with a lovely look. At the top there is also an ormolu handle to carry the clock. At the front side of the case we can see the clocks and barometers dials; between them, the slim thermometer is located. At the top of the case, just under the handle there is a riveted shield-shaped silvery-metal plate. It contains an inscription in English engraved by hand in different types of lettering. It speaks of a consolation race (a race in which people that have previously lost compete against each other) and a date: June 22nd, 1889. A personal and true detail that increases even more the beauty and interest of this antique clock. Perfect to shine in a classy study, this striking antique neoclassic clock will become the center of attention.
