Spectacular antique pendulum mantle clock with pendulum, chiming the hours and halves over gong. The wooden box is made of tropical mahogany while the carved side columns and pinnacles are made of solid beech wood. The clock is of typical German construction, although it presents / displays a front plate in English indicating that it was presented to Mr. F. Bomben and dated Spetembre the 12th of 1903, reason why possibly was made for the English market. Despite of being more than a hundred years old, it is in magnificent condition and works perfectly. The mechanism has been cleaned and fine-tuned, and now works wonderfully. The wooden box has also been completely restored, down to the last detail, to look the impressive aspect that we can see at the moment.The box is of classic style, with an elegant form of temple or architectonic inspiration. The tropical mahogany wood shows its beautiful intense color, with a deeply marked vein. On either side of the glass door we see two columns carved with a horseshoe-shaped details and a frieze carved at the top. Its finished by a lobulated carving on the upper part. All these elements are carved and turned, revealing the hand of an accomplished artist. The wood shines with an intense traditional French varnishing that greatly increases its attractive aspect. The silvered metal dial is attached to a golden brass bottom that occupies the entire front of the clock. It carries Arabic numerals in black, with decoration of intercalated scrolls and hour and minute hands of the same color.Surrounding the sphere there are four beautiful golden appliques with scrolls and garlands, of classic and baroque style. The pendulum movement looks shiny and as we say it has been adjusted by a professional clockmaker. It works perfectly and chimes the hours and halves on gong.This is a beautiful antique table clock that will stand out in any room.Measurements: Height: 54 cm. (21,25 inches) Width: 28.5 cm.
