Porcelain Mantel Clock. Antique. France, 19th Century

Elegant antique mantel clock with porcelain box, made in France in the 19th century and in wonderful condition. The clock mounts a Paris movement that chimes the hours and the halves. The movement has been fully checked and adjusted, so today it works perfectly. The porcelain box shows off a delicate and singular charm; it is white with lovely hand-painted blue motives, in a very romantic and attractive style. This clock is a really beautiful piece, bound to shine on top of an antique sideboard or in the most special corner. The porcelain box shows a curved asymmetrical shape that provides the clock with a very original look. It is made of an only enameled-porcelain piece, in good condition and with no cracks or broken parts. The base stands on four small curved legs; at its front side we can see a wonderful hand-painted rural landscape with a lake and a snow-mantled field. There is also a farm with a windmill. The motive is framed by volutes which extend to the top of the clock and decorate all the corners of the box. The rest of the porcelain is scattered with small flowers and dots that create a very delicate and charming piece. The sides of the clock are embellished with more hand-painted motives, depicting a farm with a windmill and a sailboat in the middle of the sea. On the other hand, the clocks face is white with black Arab numbers. It is framed by an embossed brass ring; combined with the subtle white and blue porcelain, the shiny metal creates a very special effect. At the back of the clock we can see a small brass door that lets us reach the delicate movement, with the serial number 8483 engraved in the metal.
