Antique Old Paris Porcelain Clock. France, Circa 1840

Striking antique Old Paris porcelain clock, with its porcelain stand, made in France circa 1840 and in very good working order. The clock is a really antique item, more than 180 years old, but though being such a fragile piece it has survived to our days in acceptable good condition. It has a small flaw at the top and also a couple of small repairs, but everything goes really unnoticed and and but overall it displays an outstanding beauty and is an original ancient piece. The porcelain casing is composed of two parts: the base and the box. It is hand-painted in a bright blue color, embellished with the classic golden scrolls and trims typical of Old Paris style. We can also see a floral motif at the center and a fuchsia scallop, both performed with high delicacy and attention to detail. The clock mounts a Japy Frérés movement, marked with the manufacturers name and striking the hours and the quarters. Its excellent working order, fine sound and amazing aesthetic turn this antique Old Paris porcelain clock into the ideal piece to preside a mantelpiece or decorate a stately sideboard.
