Attractive French clock of the 19th century (1880 approx.), magnificently well preserved. Its pendulum mechanism is of the Paris type with 8 days of winding. The center of this base is decorated with a golden figure of mythological inspiration that represents a lion's head. Above this figure appears the watch face, also gilded, and with Roman numerals enameled in cobalt blue and embedded on the metal dial. The whole of the dial, both on its outer perimeter and inside, is decorated with vegetal motifs. Above the dial, and also in gold finish, culminates the set with a sculptural finial in the form of a spire. The main body shows a calamine finish in gray tone. On each of its sides, two round sculptures stand out representing mythological nymphs dressed in exotic tunics on their bellies and whose lower extremities have been replaced by vegetal elements topped with a scroll. Both figures hold in their two hands a single golden chain that also hangs from the lower part of the sphere. The pleated fabric of the tunic, as well as the elegant and slender forms of the figures refer directly to examples of Renaissance art. The Parisian machinery, widely contrasted and in very good condition, is signed by the prestigious Japy Fils, house decorated with medals for prestige in 1844 and 1849. The chime of the clock indicates the hours and half-hours. The set includes the original pendulum and key. Measures: 34,5 cms (height), 30 cms (width), 12,5 cms (depth).
