Clock with Candelabra, Ca. 1870.

This attractive mantel clock and candelabra set is an antique and decorative piece, made in France circa 1870. The three pieces have survived to our days in excellent condition, as beautiful and stylish as the first day. The set has a great decorative potential because of its highly baroque look, at the same time smart and balanced. The box has a square-shaped box and is crowned by a vase-shaped piece, and the candelabra are slim and stylized and have five lights each.The clock is an especially appealing piece because of its beauty and the quality of its movement. It has 8-day Paris movement and chimes the hours and the halves. The square box stands on a fine four-legged base in whose front side we can see a medal engraved in the shape of a human face. Over the base there is a neoclassic fringe engraved in the metal. The clocks face is circular and is protected by the original glass; it is made of white porcelain with fine Arab numbers painted black. Under the clocks face, the box is decorated with a motive depicting some branched tied with a ribbon; at the top we can see a group of volutes and flowers. On each side, two lion heads hold the bronze handles in their jaws.At the top of the clock we can see a beautiful piece that provides it with height and elegance: a nice bronze vase with volutes as handles and on top of the lid. The clocks movement is signed with the manufacturers stamp: VINCENT & CIE. MEDALLE DARGENT 1856. We can also see the serial number engraved in the metal: 4131. The clock has been revised to guarantee an optimal working order. Last but not least, the candelabra boast a fine and classic design, each one shaped as a vase that stands on complicatedly decorated base.
