Exclusive French mantle clock and candelabra set, made around 1870. This is a nice example of French golden bronze craft, whose small size makes a delicate piece of it. The clock is in perfect working order and the whole set is in excellent condition, being a highly decorative and antique item. Both the clocks face and movement are signed, and the three-light candelabra match its beauty making a lovely set. The movement bears a circular stamp with the following inscription: JAPY FRERES & CIE GDE MED.DHONNEUR. This mark indicates that the movement was made by prestigious clockwork factory Japy Freres, founded by Frédéric Japy in Beaucourt, France, in 1777. In 1855 the company was awarded a medal in the Exposition of Paris, and from then on different stamps with this information were printed in the clocks movements. Currently Japy brand still stands, and during the 19th and 20th centuries it produced all kinds of items, from motors to typewriters. This clocks movement also bears another circular stamp with this inscription: DAUREVILLE & LALLIER BREVETÉ S.G.D.G. The clocks face is made of white porcelain with black Roman numbers. We can also read an elegant signature on it: Ancely Pére & Fils, and just under the needles, the city where this set comes from: TOLOUSE. The face has some hairs but nevertheless the mantle clock and candelabra set is in very good condition. The golden bronze is profusely engraved with elegant and delicate floral filigrees, symmetrical and very decorative, which can be seen in the clock and the candelabra making up different patterns. This is undoubtedly a fine set that stands witness to the high quality of French bronze craft, deserved to shine in an elegant and aristocratic living room. Measurements: Clock: 280 mm width x 350 mm height. Candelabra: 210 mm with x 280 mm height.
