Antique French Bronze Clock with Garnish. 19th Century.

Beautiful French mantel clock and garniture set. This article is made of bronze and dates from the late 19th century. It is a lovely mantel set; as well as being in wonderful condition, the clock works like the first day. This piece comes with a garniture made up by two decorative twin pieces, fit to flank the clock on both sides and complete a sumptuous and highly appealing set. The three elements are delicately engraved with a lot of decorative details and are also very well preserved. The clocks movement has been revised and adjusted; it keeps the original key and it's signed.The urn-shaped clock has two stylized handles, one on each side, which turn it into a harmonious and attractive piece. Two filigree elements hang from them, one from each handle; they are shield-shaped and also made of bronze. All the clocks surface is decorated with engraved and embossed motives, vegetal-inspired and classical in style. The base stands on four legs decorated with engraved womens faces. The two decorative elements that come with the clock are similar in shape and decoration.The clocks movement is a Paris 8 days movement and chimes the hours and half hours. The movement and the pendulum has matching serial numbers: 2443. Just over the number of the movement we discover the mark with the manufacturers name: A.D. MOUGIN DEUX MEDAILLES. A. D. Mougin was a prestigious clockmaker from Hérimoncourt, France, who was associated with Japy, Marti and Roux.
