Antique and fully decorative French mantel clock, made of bronze in the 19th century and in optimal condition. This piece boasts a great bronze box with many decorative details, masls and filigree designs that provide it with an unmistakable baroque and majestic charm. The clock, that has 8-day Paris movement and chimes the hours and the halves, is in excellent condition. It has been cleansed and fine-tuned to guarantee its perfect working order. One of the most remarkable features of this article is its pendulum, with a sun-like design and that can be seen through the filigree decoration of the box. The pendulum bob is a stunning piece itself. It shows off a circular design with a face in the center from whose lush hair the beams come out, creating a symbolic image of the sun. Thought it cannot be perfectly seen, as stated before it is possible to distinguish its presence and movement through the gaps of the decorative bronze box. This boasts an architectural-inspired design, in the shape of a temple with four columns that stand on a wide and solid base. The base itself is supported by four legs and over the semicircular top of the box we can see an eye-catching bronze crowning piece. The face of the clocks rests in the center of the box. It is also made of bronze with black Roman numbers painted on white porcelain oval pieces. Under the face there is a mask depicting a lions face, and just below this detail we can see a lions leg with its claw. The rear corners of the box are decorated with masks that depict delicate womens faces. At the back of the box there is a glass door that let us see the movement and the pendulum bob, and also reach them. The movement bears the mark of the French manufacturer JAPY FRERES & CIE.
