This rare piece is the Medal of the Old Guard of the Phalange, a Spanish medal created in April 9th, 1942 to distinguish those who could proof that they were members of the Phalange Partyor to the Traditionalist Communion before February 16th, 1936. This is a very rare and sought-after medal that will delight any collector of historic and military antiques. The piece that we can see in these images is in very good condition; at the back it bears the hand-engraved name of the awarded, the file number and the year when its owner became a member of the Phalange Party. The medal is accompanied by a small pin designed to be worn in the lapel. It also comes with a document that indicates that the man who was awarded the medal, Arsenio Perales Guerricabeitia, was a real person and held a relevant position in Francos regime. The document determines the appointment of Perales Guerricabeitia as Provincial Deputy Secretary of Economy Ordination in the Provincial Trade-Union Delegation of Teruel (Spain). The appointment took place on February 2nd, 1942. He was a relevant figure, closely related to Francisco Franco and his regime. The medal is made of enameled golden metal and hangs from a red and yellow ribbon with the colors of the Spanishs flag. It shows eleven stars: according to the Brotherhood of the Old Guard, they symbolize José Antonio Primo de Rivera (the biggest one), a first-line squad and a second-line squad (the rest, smaller in size). The stars stand out on a dark blue enamel background and are framed by a green laurel wreath. This medal is quite a rare piece, historically relevant and that cannot be missing in the best collection of antique Spanish awards. Measurements: Medal: 1.3 in / 3.5 cm Diameter.
