This big red-enameled golden metal pin is an original item belonging to the Spanish Phalange party. The piece was made in the 1940s and is authentic and quite rare. The pin depicts the yoke and the arrows that symbolize the Phalange party, made of golden metal and with a nice red-enamel finish. It is in very good condition, with the red finish quite well preserved and showing no bumps or darkened parts. This pin is a witness for the era that cannot be missing in a good collection of historic antiques. The symbol with the yoke and the arrows dates from the times of the Catholic Kings of Spain. They chose it to symbolize their reign and their marriage: Ysabel (y for Yugo, yoke) and Fernando (f for Flechas, arrows). In those times the arrows were disposed with their points downwards, but the Phalange party changed their disposition so they pointed upwards. The symbol was chosen after professor Fernando de los Ríos from the University of Granada said that if fascism had been born in Spain, it would have adopted this symbol. One on his pupils, Juan Aparicio López, reported this comment to the Phalange party and suggested that it could be their symbol. The golden metal this pin is made of has been carefully molded to provide the piece with the shape of the yoke and the arrows. The red enamel that decorates it leaves a slim golden frame all around the shape; this detail makes the motive stand out. Both the arrows and the yoke are outlined in black to provide depth and relief to the image. Overall, this is a historic badge that boasts a beautiful design and a carefully making too. Because of its authenticity and history, this pin from the 1940s deserves a place of honor in a great collection of antiques. Measurements: Width: 0.9 in / 2.3 cm. Height: 1.3 in / 3.5 cm.
