Order of Merit of the Red Cross for Ladies. Japan

Fine enameled silver medal in its original case and accompanied by its corresponding miniature. It is the Ladies Order of the Red Cross Merit. The piece is in very good condition. The medal is made of solid silver and composed of a cross and a miniature; the design depicts a Greek cross whose arms are made up of white-enameled petals. In the center there is a blue circle with an engraving that depicts a dove, two laurel wreaths and a small red cross. At the back we can see a blue circle with a Japanese inscription inside, all framed by a golden cord. On the other hand, the miniature boasts the same white cross; in this case, the central circle is also white and shows an only red cross inside. The case where this medal comes is the original one: is covered by black leather and bears a Japanese inscription in the lid. This order is a rare and attractive piece, perfect to complete a good collection of international medals. Measurements: Width:1.7 in/4.5 cm. Height: 1.7 in 4.5 cm.
