The scale stands on a rectangular wooden base with a front drawer that contains the set of weighs and the thongs needed to manipulate them. This balance scale is a completely original piece, quite charming and highly decorative. It is made of golden brass and keeps all its original component parts: the beam, the scale and the pans. Resting on the pans there are two small circular trays that facilitate the manipulation of the weighs and of the products to be weighed.The scale is in good condition and works perfectly. It keeps the original balancing screw, located just in front of the beam. The base is made of solid beech wood and its outside surface is protected and embellished by an original mahogany finish. The finish is in good condition though one of the back corners looks slightly worn. Nevertheless it is in quite good condition and the small signs of the trace of time can be easily restored by a professional.The drawer bears a dyed wood knob at the front. Inside we find the set of weighs, perfectly disposed in a solid wooden piece with circular compartments of different diameters. The set comes with a pair of tweezers designed to pick and manipulate them; they are made of cast iron and boast an original shape. At the top of the weighs we can read the number of grams of each piece engraved in the metal.This nice and simple balance scale is a vintage piece, quite attractive and interesting for any collector of antique charming instruments.Measurements: Width: 12.2 in/31 cm.
